on the road to SXSW - San Francisco to Barstow

SomaFM is road tripping to South by Southwest this year. Well, at least Rusty and Merin are. Elise is going to fly in a little later. But on the way there, we're going to spread the word about SomaFM along historic Route 66 and the southern US. And tell you about it in the process.

San Francisco to Barstow

We really had good luck on our first day. It could have been a boring drive (that we’ve done before), but the first grass of spring was out everywhere and it was bright intense beautiful green and there were crazy nice clouds. Along highway 99, all the fruit trees are in bloom. At Bakersfield, we started to head east. The hills there are really beautiful. Surprised me. The poppies are starting to bloom there and the hills are covered with them. By the time we got to Mojave, it was sunset, and we drove the rest of the way to Barstow in the dark.
